---+ Encoding Tool %TOC% ---++ News 10/6/2016 - A new version of !PdgWorkspace with a greatly improved encoding tool, documentation,[[#How_To][HowTo]] guides and a [[#Tutorials][tutorial]] is now available! ---++ Instructions for encoders [[%ATTACHURL%/Encoding_instructions_11-16.pdf][Printable PDF file with encoding instructions]], or see steps below: 1 select Pending Tasks on your tasklist filter 1 click on task from tasklist to start the encoding process. 1 enter bibliographic information at *reference details* tab 1 if your measurements do not require new datablocks, enter measurements at *add measurements* tab. 1 if you need to create new decay modes and/or datablock nodes for your encoding, go to toolbox tab and use add decay mode, add branching ratio and add generic node subtabs. After new nodes are created, go to add measurements tab to add measurements for new nodes 1 go to *review & sign off* tab to see the summary of your encoding. This tab is the final step of encoding process where you can 'Sign off' your encoding, also it is the page where you can check and edit all the data that you encoded. use 'edit' links to edit measurements, decay texts, datablock headers, or to change decays/datablocks locations. Use 'del' links to delete data, if needed. Use check links to run fits & averages and to check PDF files. Use node links to include/exclude datablocks from constrained fits, if needed. When encoding is done - click 'Sign off' button and it will bring you back to tasklist, where you can select another task to encode. 'Signed off' encodings will disappear from your pending tasks list, to see them select *Completed Tasks* on the tasklist filter. ---++ Instructions for overseers 1 select *Pending Tasks* on your tasklist filter. 1 click on task to see the summary of encoding. 1 Use 'edit' links to make changes if needed 1 Use 'check' links to run fits & averages and to check PDF files 1 If everything is correct, click 'Sign off' button to send the task to editor 1 You can return encoding back to encoder by clicking 'Return to Encoder' button. ---++ How To * [[taskList1][See your pending, future or completed tasks]] * [[navigate][Navigate through encoding forms]] * [[assignEncodings][Assign encodings by team members]] * [[enterBibliographic][Add bibliographic information (Authors, Collaboration, etc)]] * [[addMeasurement][Add a measurement to an existing data block]] * [[addFootnote0][Add a new footnote to existing measurement]] * [[addFootnote1][Attach existing footnote to new measurement]] * [[addFootnote2][Attach existing footnote to existing measurement]] * [[addDecay][Add new decay mode]] * [[addBr][Add a data block for a new decay mode (branching ratio node)]] * [[addNode][Add a new data block (other than for a decay mode or branching ratio)]] * [[editDecay][Edit decay mode]] * [[editMeasurement][Edit measurement]] * [[editBr][Edit branching ratio node]] * [[editNode][Edit data block header and unit]] * [[locDecay][Change location of decay mode]] * [[locBr][Change location of branching ratio node]] * [[locNode][Change location of data block node]] * [[refInfo][See what's been encoded for another paper]] * [[printdb][How to run fits and averages on a datablock and see its listings as PDF]] * [[printp][How to run fits and averages on the whole particle and see its listings as PDF]] * [[messages][How to write messages to editor or to other encoders/overseers involved in the current encoding]] ---++ Tutorials * [[http://pdgusers.lbl.gov/~pschaffner/encoding-tutorial-oct202016.mp4][Video tutorial]] * [[Tutorial2016][Self-guided encoding system tutorial instructions]] ---++ Useful references * Frequently used PDG macros -- Main.beringer - 2016-09-20
